Frequently found in Düsseldorf's (DE) city center: A bicycle lane that suddenly stops. The only way to continue is via a dangerous main road or on foot via the sidewalk. The initiative "Wo ist der Radweg hin!?", sees itself as an activist collective that campaigns for a traffic-calmed inner city and wants to put the issue back on the political agenda. The goal is to develop a clear and safe route network for cyclists in order to inspire more people to ride their bikes.
Around the idea of a temporary "urban-happening"a permanent goal grows which develops through changing events and information material in a constant process. The intervention in the public space through pink chalk paint, should replace the missing markings and draw a picture of the way that one travels as a cyclist every day. In a further step, the initiative wants to draw attention to this and collects under the hashtag #woistderradweghin! to collect photos of bicycle paths that have disappeared. Everyone is invited to participate in order to increase the documentation. The initiative will then mark those missing bike lanes directly on site. In the end, a large network is to be created, which will mark the precarious situation for cyclists in Düsseldorf. The whole action will be accompanied by different posters, which on the one hand invite to participate in the action and on the other hand invite to a bicycle demonstration.
