Breitenlee is a suburban area in the 22nd district of Vienna. In the future, new apartments and construction projects will be built here. Our Social Design department was invited by the client to create a catalog of ideas to make possible scopes of action visible. Through several site visits and conversations with residents we tried to uncover material and immaterial resources that could help to realize projects. The focus of my work is the design of the immediate surroundings of suburban row houses. These are particularly characterized by arrangements in their own front yards, as well as by wide expanses of meadows and fields. Specifically, I investigate to what extent the design in front of one's own front door can be transferred to the surroundings of the property, in order to be able to use the potential for future area design. For this purpose, I have created a questionnaire with five questions, which will be distributed in the Breitenlee district and then evaluated. The intangible resources are: "appropriation through design" and the feeling of "being at home" and "connectedness."
