At least 70 percent of Austria's 23,700 hectares of ski slopes are covered with artificial snow each winter. Real snow has long since become a precious commodity that could become scarce in the future. It is high time to preserve the snow for future generations. Before it melts! Hunting for Snow includes several projects of our Social Design Studio as part of the festival program of "minus20degree" in Flachau (Salzburg, Austria). The projects deal with the consequences of the urbanization of rural areas as well as the challenges and opportunities of a booming and at the same time crisis-prone tourism economy. The village center is activated and becomes a new old anchor point in Flachau.
